The 5 Step Check List to Avoid Harmful Ingredients

It is not easy for me to remember all of the toxic ingredients to steer away from, so I have created a mental check list that helps me every time. 

I will share it with you here, 

1. Check; are more than 5 ingredients? if they are and you don't know what their names mean, know that literally, you are taking a risk with your health, and it might not be a calculated it one. You literally could be placing something in your body that has been shown to be harmful. 

2. Swap heart attack ingredients, for healthy fats, (1), Trans fats is like putting glue into your blood. Trans fats are made by food manufacturers by adding hydrogen to liquid oil to solidify it to increase its shelf life. Unfortunately, Trans fats are responsible for increasing your risk of having a heart attack. And in 2016 the FDA actually passed a memorandum stating that is no longer considered as a safe ingredient in foods (2). 

3. Swap your artificial Sweeteners; Initially introduced into the marketplace, claiming that they could help with weight loss. Now we have learned that not only do they not help with weight loss but actually have the opposite effect. It has been shown that they will increase the risk of Hypertension, Diabetes Type Two and Metabolic syndrome. (3)

4. Does it have, MSG or monosodium glutamate? is found in soup, salad dressing, chips, frozen entrees, and restaurant foods. MSG is an amino acid that brings the flavor out in foods, although this might sound great, it is not so great. As a matter of fact, it is horrible, It has been shown to result in headaches, increased blood pressure and subjectively reported peri-cranial muscle tenderness after two hours of ingesting it to say the least. (4) But this is not all, it has actually been shown to kill neurons in rats (5). Really? yes really, so make sure if you are eating something, that it doesn't have MSG if you want to keep your brain cells. 

5. Think to your self, would this and everything else that I eat add up to more than 28grams of sugar a day? if it would you might be hurting your body instead of fueling your body.This 28 grams of sugar a day comes form the studies that were done across the world in areas where people live healthy long lasting lives up until their late 80s. It was found that even in different countries and different customs these people do not eat more than 28 grams of sugar a day, so we can use that to add a little more juice into our lives. (6)
